The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday said that Nigeria will be destroyed easily if the country is separated into tiny countries.
The Vice President made this known in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi state during the wedding of his security chief which took place at pastoral centre, Abakaliki located along old Enugu road.
He said: “this country is better together; stronger together than separated; there is nothing we gain by being separtated; the country around us are tiny countries; very tiny countries; Rwanda which is celebrated in Africa; lagos state alone is six times the economy of Rwanda.
“One state in Nigeria; we are a great country and anybody that want to separate us must be rejected and we will refuse it because this country can provide for everyone of us; although our problem is corruption.
“If we check corruption in this country, there is more than enough for all of us; i want us to bear in mind that this country, our country must remain a united country; we must stand together.
“As we go along where there are difficulties we must sit down and talk about these difficulties and resolve them and move along as a family, as brothers; that is the way great countries are developed; when a country separates into a little bit, they will be picked up and they will be destroyed easily.

“Infact, I was saying to people in one of the state in the south west that when you become a small state then you will see the division in that small state, you will now be fighting each other. Let us come together and stay together” He added.
The Vice president also said that governor David Umahi is deeply respected by not just governors in the south east but governors across the contry.
“I commend the state governor, David Umahi for his stand on the unity of the country without comprising his own state or the south east” adding that ‘his stand will be one that will lead to the progress of the nation’.
The Vice president assured the people of the south east that the Maiduguri to Portharcourt railway which has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari will pass through states in the region.

“It will pass through Enugu, Abakaliki and Awka, so there is no need to make that request because it has already been approved by President Buhari” He added.
In a remark, governor David Umahi said, “I want to thank you for coming to honour one of your aides. For me it is an honour and a lesson. No matter what, we must honour those who makes our lives better. Your being here.
“You and Mr. President have really help us to transform our agriculture irrespective of party. We have only one party in Ebonyi state and because this time to serve, we will serve the people.
“We want to work with the federal government. I thank Mr. President for the second Niger bridge. All federal roads in Ebonyi are built by me, let at least one federal road be constructed for us by the federal government,” he stressed.
