Jonathan returns to Nigeria
Former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday arrived Nigeria after almost a one month trip outside the country. The former president arrived through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and was said to have also proceeded to his Bayelsa State country home, Otueke, through the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also announced Jonathan’s return in a tweet yesterday. The tweet read: “The hero of our democracy is back home.” There were reports recently that Jonathan had gone on exile in Cote d’Ivoire.
It said that the former president was running from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption cases. Jonathan denied the report, saying, “I’m not on exile. I have no cause to go on exile. It is a wicked and malicious report.” Jonathan was said to have travelled to the United Kingdom and Côte d’Ivoire.
