Nigerians still believe in PDP, Jonathan says

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday night charged members of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take advantage of the new life offered by the Supreme Court Judgment to forge strong unity and new spirit of cooperation
Addressing a crowd of party leaders at the expanded national caucus last night, the former president stated:
“Today is a day of joy. I commend the governors. Our party has come of age. I believe key decisions will be taken that will shape the future of our party,” Jonathan told party members.
“An expanded caucus meeting gives everyone the opportunity to make a meaningful suggestion to move is forward.
The first thing we need to do is to build the party,” he continued. “First and foremost let us strengthen the party. A strong party attracts people.”
“Nigerians still believe in the PDP. They were worried that the PDP will go down the drain. PDP is a party that Nigerians still believe in. Once we work together, the sky will be our limit”
The former chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff was not at the meeting. However, some of his former loyalists like Ibrahim Mantu, Olisa Metu and a few others were present.
In his remark, an elated chairman of the caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, declared that he knew of many members of the APC set to defect en masse to tge PDP.
He said the only miracle could stop the PDP from regaining power in 2019.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, the chairman of the PDP governors forum and Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose said: “This APC must die so that PDP can inherit it. These people must go.
Now the coast is clear. We should now leave Abuja and go home and transfer this victory to the people.”
Others present at the meeting are Former Senate President David Mark, Rivers State governor Wike, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom; Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe, Ishaku Darius of Taraba, and Sule Lamido.
