The lawmaker representing Borno Central Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, has faulted calls for the breakup of the country, saying it would do more harm than good.
Hon. Rahi, in a statement on Friday, said the country was destined for greatness, but “mischief makers were seizing the chance of the collective tolerant attitude of Nigerians to bring divisive antics into the country.”
The lawmaker warned troublemakers, whom he described as enemies of the country, “including those fanning embers of disunity and beating the drums of war, to beware and retrace their steps, because Nigerians are naturally peace loving, hospitable and accommodating people”.
He added, “We have become so interactive, so connected together with freedom of movement and association, as enshrined in our constitution, to the extent that attempt at dividing the country would do us all more harm than good. It is now that we need each other to forge ahead more than ever before.”
Hon. Abdulkadir thanked governors of the North who paid solidarity visits to Governor Kashim Shetima of Borno state in respect of the devastations the state suffered from the antics of Boko Haram terrorists.
He expressed optimism that the present troubles and distractions befalling Nigeria would soon be a thing of the past as people of good will are constantly praying for the good of the nation.
