A Palestinian journalist and 42 members of his family have been killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Mohammad Abu Hasira is the latest journalist who has been killed reporting in Gaza, with the Committee to Protect Journalists estimating that 37 journalists and media workers have died in the conflict in the past month.
Hasira and his family, including his sons and his brothers, were "killed in an Israeli bombing that targeted his house located near the fishermen’s port west of Gaza City".
According to the Hamas-run press service in Gaza, Hasira's body was discovered on Tuesday following an aerial bombardment in the city on Sunday night.
Gaza has been under "total siege" following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, with more than 10,000 people in Gaza killed in Israeli airstrikes according to the Palestinian Health Authority.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has resisted calls for a ceasefire to allow for dwindling supplies in the embattled enclave to be replenished, however he did suggest that very short pauses could be allowed to let aid into Gaza.
