Former teammate of Victor Osimhen at Napoli, Lorenzo Insigne, has warned the Nigerian striker to think carefully before leaving the Serie A champions.
Osimhen has been the subject of a move away from the reigning Italian champions.
His 26 goals helped Napoli clinch the league title last season, their first since the 1989/90 campaign.
Top European clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and a club from Saudi Arabia have been linked with Osimhen.
Insigne, who spent 12 years at Napoli (2010 to 2022) before joining Major League Soccer (MLS) club Toronto FC, said his wish is for Osimhen to remain at the Italian club for many years.
“I would tell him to think carefully before leaving Napoli, because the emotional response you get here cannot be found elsewhere,” Insigne told Sky Sport Italia. “The Scudetto is different in Naples compared to other clubs.
“He will make the best decision for himself. I hope that he will remain at Napoli for a long time, and if the club has to make an extra effort on the contract, it is worth it, because there are few strikers as talented as he is.”
The 32-year-old revealed that he planned to stay at Napoli for life but things did not turn out as planned.
He added:“My dream was to stay at Napoli for life. That is not what happened, but I always carry Napoli in my heart, it is my home. I wanted to stay for longer, but it went the way it went.”
