Female Lecturer Kidnapped in Kogi

A female lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, Christie Agbulu,  has been kidnapped in Lokoja, Kogi State.
 The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (ASUU-FUAM), chapter disclosed this in Lokoja yesterday during a press briefing.
According to the acting Chairperson of the union, Bemgba Anjembe, she on Saturday, November 26, 2016, one of their members, Agbulu, a lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences travelled to Lokoja from Makurdi and was abducted by  kidnappers immediately she arrived Kogi State.  

She said  the abductors on that fateful day, used the mobile phone of the victim to demand a ransom of N150, 000 to free her and that the sum of 100,000 was paid to her bank account and the kidnappers quickly used Agbulu’s ATM card to  withdrew the money. 

She added that since when the kidnappers got the money,  the union members have not heard any thing from the abductors, stressing that the victim was yet to be released. 

The union leader  noted:  “On November 30, 2016 we were in Lokoja and met with the police on that day and we were assured that something was being done, the following day we went back to the Police ‘A’ Division Lokoja  and they reassured us that they were in control of the situation and would soon find her. 

“But today it is almost three weeks our colleague was abducted and there is no iota of information about her whereabouts, even the abductor no long call us. 

“We were constrained to petition the Inspector General of Police on December 5, 2016 over this ugly situation to which no response has been received.”
The union leaders therefore appealed to the security agencies and Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to do every thing possible to rescue the innocent woman. 
They also appealed to the public  who may come in contact with her or has any information about her  to report to the nearest police station.
