President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Attorney General and minister Of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to probe the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal and other government officials  over corruption allegations.

There are also allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari over  alleged N500 million bribery money said to have been paid to the Chief of Staff by officials of South Africa-owned MTN Telecommunications Company with the intent that the CoS will influence government to rethink its heavy stance on the $5 billion fine imposed on the company.
However in a terse  statement by the his senior special assistant on  media, Garba Shehu, President Buhari warned that if any of them  is found  liable ,they  will not escape prosecution.
“The attention of the presidency has been drawn to a number of reports in the media, in which various accusations of corruption have been levelled against some top officials in the administration.
“In that regard, President Buhari has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate the involvement of any top government officials accused of any wrong-doing. If any of them are liable they will not escape prosecution,”the statement said.
